Presentation of the website of the Republican Geological Fund
Deborah Grieser, the USAID Armenia Mission Director, made opening remarks at the event in Yerevan on September 14 which introduced the Republican Geological Fund's new website, geo-fund.am. The website was made possible through the USAID-funded “Enhanced transparency in the Mining Sector” project, implemented by the Government of Armenia. The Fund's depository preserves almost all materials related to the geological activities in Armenia since the 1920s. Under this Government-to-Government project, the Fund’s data is being digitized and published on the website to ensure better maintenance and sustainability of these valuable documents, as well as facilitate public access to this information. About 90% of the Fund’s documents are already digitized and published on geo-fund.am.
The event was attended by representatives of the Armenian government, mining companies, civil society and academia, as well as geologists from around 40 countries participating in the INHIGEO 2017 conference in Yerevan.
